On August 9 – International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, UniNetra stands in solidarity with over 476 million indigenous people across 90+ countries, whose wisdom, culture, and spirit continue to shape the soul of our planet — yet remain ignored, marginalized, or displaced.
Who Are Indigenous Peoples?
Indigenous communities are the original caretakers of land, nature, and culture. They hold ancient knowledge in:
- Environmental protection
- Natural medicine
- Sustainable agriculture
- Language, rituals, and art
Yet today, they face extreme poverty, land loss, cultural erasure, and systemic discrimination.
According to the United Nations (2024 report):
- Indigenous people represent 6.2% of the world’s population
- Yet account for 15% of the world’s extreme poor
- 1 in 3 indigenous children lack access to basic education or healthcare

Real Voices, Real Stories

“I walk 3 hours to school every day. I want to become a teacher in my village.” – Tari, 12, Indigenous Student (Pakistan’s Thar region)
These voices reflect a global truth: every indigenous child, elder, and activist deserves dignity, rights, and opportunity.
